Projects funded by the SSNED are demand-driven, in that countries submit a request for assistance to the Network for a twinning project or a training workshop. Training Workshops on Competition Law and Policy

Competition Law and Policy in Pacific Small States
The main objectives of the workshop were to provide training to government officials operating in Pacific Small States relating to competition law and policy with special reference to institutional design, enforcement and regional cooperation. The beneficiary states were the small states located in the Pacific region. The workshop was held in Apia, Samoa between 17 and 18 January 2011. Competition Law and Policy in African Small States
The main objectives of the workshop were to provide training to government officials operating in African Small States relating to competition law and policy with special reference to institutional design, enforcement and regional cooperation. The beneficiary states were the small states located in the African region. The workshop was held in Windhoek, Namibia between 26 and 27 July 2010. Competition Policy in The Caribbean Small States
The main objectives of the workshop were to provide training to government officials operating in the Caribbean Small States relating to competition law and policy with special reference to institutional design, enforcement and regional cooperation. The beneficiary states were the small states located in the Caribbean region. The workshop was held at the Cave Hill Campus in the University of West Indies, Barbados between 26 and 27 October 2009. Twinning Projects on Competition Law and Policy

Developing Strategic Directions for the Competition Commission of Namibia
The objective of the project was to assist the Government of Namibia in developing strategic directions with regard to the operation of the Namibian Competition Commission so as to implement competition law and policy in Namibia. Other objectives included the training of public sector officials in competition law and policy; the provision of advocacy with regards to competition among Namibian stakeholders including consumers and the business community and identifying competition constraints in a small jurisdiction as is the case of Namibia. The beneficiary state was Namibia and the project was implemented between July and November 2010. More information about this twinning projects is available here.
